Tulip Pond only offers the professional, personal attention of private or semiprivate lessons. We welcome all levels of riders. We start all new perspective clients with a one hour lesson. We take the time to evaluate and find out where you are comfortable in continuing with your riding.
LESSON INFORMATION
Lessons at Tulip Pond are given everyday except Sundays. Our one hour lessons are given to beginners, and those who need to be refreshed. They include grooming, tacking up, and the proper way to cool a horse out. You may choose from private or semiprivate lessons. Half hour lessons are given to more advanced riders. We offer a show team for riders who are interested. We are happy to take everyone from short stirrup to jumpers. Show teams learn about sportsmanship, and proper etiquette at shows. We make learning about the competitive side of the horse show world lots of fun. We are very proud of our outstanding staff. Our staff is well qualified to deal with all levels of riders from beginners to advanced. All lessons are taught by trainers who are insured. Our goal is to make riding safe, and enjoyable for everyone from the pleasure rider, to the competitive show rider. If you would like to know more about our trainers, please click here. HORSES FOR SALE Currently no horses for sale, check back soon though! Training ↑
Tulip Pond welcomes horses in training to be sold, or here for schooling to teach you, or someone you care about how to ride better. We work on an "as needed" basis. This way, there’s no set "monthly training rate." Owner Daphne Ross’s philosophy is that sometimes horses need only 15 minutes, or sometimes they need up to one hour in each session we work with them. Your horse could need a few days a week, once a week, or just a warm up at the shows. We sit down and discuss with you your goals for the horse and what you would like to accomplish with your horse through our services.
Some successful horses that Daphne has worked with include "Damosel", and "Boutonniere." She also started Quinn (now "Lucky Charm" ridden by Tony Workman) and "Si Milagro," who moved on to show very successfully in the First years.
Daphne Ross is known for her patience and soft riding ability. Her niche is to keep the horses going in with a good attitude by encouraging correct jumping style, and natural balance. With her experience riding with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, and being a professional rider for over 11 years, she is able to make all different abilities of horses perform in a "showy" manner.
Boarding ↑
Tulip Pond Farm was originally opened in 1996 in Potomac, MD by Daphne Ross (see staff page for bio). In July 2000, we settled on 40 beautiful acres. The only standing buildings were a house and a run-down 11 stall barn. We managed to gut out the existing barn and added amenities such as a restroom with laundry facilities, one wash stall in the "old barn" (to accompany the 2 more in the new barn), a spacious office, and a sitting room. Once the old barn was made a livable space for most of the horses that made the move with us... we outdid ourselves! Daphne carefully designed, and hired several crews to construct, a gorgeous new 16 stall barn with all the "bells and whistles", a 150x250 outdoor arena, and a 80x204 indoor arena, with a climate controlled viewing area and felt, blue stone, and rubber footing. We built this place for you and your horse to be comfortable. Please contact Daphne Ross for more information. Clinics ↑
