2011

GWU- Bridget Burke, Andria McMaugh, Pia Engel and Kate Watson advanced to Regionals. Kate Watson advanced to zones but missed going to Nationals this year.

IEA- Tayler Stewart advanced from zones with a 2nd place win to IEA Nationals but did not ribbon at Nationals. We had fun and she had a great round in the Future Intermediate over fences.

2010

Caitlin Hooper has had many success’s on our leased pony Sliver. Caitlin ended the year in the hunters:
  • 6th in MHSA childrens pony medal finals
  • 8th in the H and H medal finals
  • 6th for CPHJSA for the sm/medium childrens ponies
  • 6th over fences at WIHS zone finals
  • 6th overall in the zone for sm/med childrens pony hunters
Thank you again to Teri Wheerley for such a wonderful pony!! We look forward to another successful year with Lauren Katz in the irons.

Caitlin is also a member of the Seneca Valley Pony Club and participated in Quiz rally, and Tetratholon (a competition made up of 4 phases: shooting, running, riding and swimming) She received her D-3 rating in the fall.

Paige Hooper also had a successful year. Paige ended the year on "My Day":
  • 4th in the MHSA year end standing for Pony Pleasure
  • Meriting for MHSA short stirrup
  • 4th in CPJHSA in Pony Pleasure
  • 4th for MSA in short stirrup
Paige is also a member of SVPC and participated in Quiz Rally.

Lauren Katz and "Mr Goody Two shoes" ended the year
  • 6th in the MSA short stirrup
"Mr Goody two shoes" has been sold, and we look forward to seeing him be very successful at the shows with his new rider.

Catherine Rodda ended the year 3rd in MSA standings for the schooling division with Caitlin Hooper’s “Senor Cosmo”

Erin Tilkin qualifiied for MHSA adult medals, and participated on Damosel. She also qualified for zone finals for adult amateurs on Why Not, but due to illness they were unable to participate. Erin is a sophmore at Centenary college in NJ. We look forward to seeing her and Walter again this summer.

We also want to congratulate the George Washington University Equestrian Team riders who have already qualified for Regionals
  • Kate Watson for Novice over fences
  • Andria McMaugh for advanced walk, trot, canter
  • Bridget Burke is in the running for the Chachione cup finals
We have a few other riders within points of making it to Regionals, and we have the whole spring semester left!! We have high hopes for Nationals with at least one rider this year!

We will sadly be saying goodbye to our four year captain Valeria Cogliani and also to four year rider, Andria McMaugh as they are both graduating seniors this year.

Also: great success with our newest teams!! The Tulip Pond IEA middle school / high school team has made the second year memorable!
  • Gwendolyn Shaw, and Tayler Stewart are within points of Regionals with one and two shows left! IEA limits riders to a maximum of 5 shows per year!
  • Other participating members this year were: Amy Oechsler, Selin Demir, Chaney Taggert, Hannah Recknor and Marilyn Hazlett

2009

Catherine Rodda sadly outgrew "Carolina in my Mind" (aka Linus). He was 15th in the zone for large childrens ponies before he was sold in July. With Linus, She qualified for MHSA childrens pony EQ and H and H finals. She will attend with mount "Senor Cosmo."

Thank you to The Listrani Family and Walnut Pond Farm for selling Catherine Rodda's "Best of Times." She can be seen in the low hunter divisions this year with Daphne Ross. In 2010 she can be seen in the pre childrens and/or childrens divisions with Catherine Rodda and and pre greens with Daphne Ross.

Gwendalyn Shaw and Katie Winkler are qualified and will be attending the Josey Mohler finals.

After a third place finish in the region last year, under the leadership of Valeria Cogliani and coach Daphne Ross, the GWU team returns to Tulip Pond in September.

Caitlin Hooper and "My Day" and Paige Hooper and "Mr Goody Two Shoes" continue to show successfully.

Daphne Ross has been showing "Damosel" in the second year pre greens and "Wonderlust" in the baby greens at various shows

We would like to say goodbye and wish our college-bound students, Erin Tilkin, and Claire Hanrahan the best of luck. We will see you over the holidays and summers!

2008

Gwendolyn Shaw and Catherine Rodda qualified and participated in the H and H finals.

Catherine Rodda and Carolina in my Mind attended Zone finals for the large childrens division.

George Washington University Equestrian Team: coach Daphne Ross lead the team to a 3rd place finish in Zone 4 Region 1 for the year. Valeria Cogliani will be attending Regionals for Intermediate Flat and Erika Renson will be competing in Open Flat at Regionals and automatically qualified for Zones in Open over fences. Erika Renson ended with the reserve Champion Rider title for the region. Alumni rider Lauren Maruskin (a rider at Tulip Pond) will also hack off at Regionals for a spot to Nationals! Best of luck to all!

Tulip Pond rider Nitsan Ayali will compete for Hofstra college at Regionals for Intermediate flat and over fences. Hope to see you at Nationals! Good luck!

Caitlin Hooper ended 8th in the MHSA short stirrup and 4th in the CPJHSA walk trot division. Paige Hooper received merit awards for MHSA and CPJHSA in leadline.
